When most people think about Cowley’s legacy, they think of the stabbing synth line of “Do You Wanna Funk?” or the rolling arpeggio of his famous remix of Donna Summer. But, for many musicians and disco fans, Patrick’s music was way ahead of its time and paved the way and inspired many future generations. Countless interviews have cited Cowley’s compositions as inspiration for musicians and artists who have done their own part in changing the landscape of music.
More specifically, a recent resurgence and attention is being paid on Cowley’s catalog. The revival of disco music in today’s nightclubs and the sounds of Hi_NRG sneaking its way into new bands show us that Cowley Lives and his music is still menergizing us 30 years later.
