Letters to Lily – June 11, 1982 (Transcribed)

6-11-82

Hello my little fried potato -

Here I am on a Friday afternoon. I just came in from a recording session at “The Automatt” – a big 24tk studio where I’m working on my second album “MIND WARP”. I’m almost half way finished and it’s sounding great. The Jefferson Starship are working there this week (I saw Grace Slick in the hallway today – gosh!)

I’m feeling pretty good these days – except for antibiotic side effects (weird bowels…icky taste in my mouth) which are preferable to a recurrence of the disease. The weather here is summer hideous – lots of fog and COLD wind blasting in off the ocean.

Our record company just released another song of mine with PAUL PARKER as the vocalist – in a few weeks we’ll be releasing my collaboration with Sylvester. Paul’s record sold close to 15,000 copies in the first 5 weeks and is currently #36 (with a superbullet) on the Billboard Dance Music Charts. That’s doing very well for a single. Paul is in heaven and had begun touring with tapes already. He’s been to Houston, LA, San Diego, and Chicago and earns over a thousand $’s per show. He’s one of my best friends so I thought I’d let you know about him. That’s his photo on the record.

I’m still hobbling around with a cane these days…mostly to climb stairs. But my stamina is improving.

How exciting for Jenny to be chosen to dance for the NYC Ballet. You must congratulate her for me.

I too have recently been on an old Beatles revival. I’ve repurchased the White Album, M.M. Tour, Rubber Soul, Sgt. Peppers…and a double album compilation of early songs.

Your job sounds like it’s getting more and more demanding, but I know you can handle it. Next time you write, let me know how your schedule is – so I know when I’m likely to find you home to receive a phone call.

As far as traveling East this year, I’m hoping to do so, possibly in October. My ability to visit you will probably be determined by my health at that point. It will be good for me I’m sure, though a full week might be difficult. I’ve gotten funny and cranky concerning my daily habits and comfort.

Anyhow, my little Love Button, write when you get a minute – I do so love to hear from you and I apologize for being so lax in the correspondence dept.

Toute l’amour
Patrick
